The Kimberley Process Certification :

The first form of certification a diamond receives is while it is still rough and uncut. The mine of it's origin would send the rough uncut stone to the local govermental body which would once convinced that it derived from a conflict free source will issue the stone with a serial number and certificate. These diamonds are then transported sealed and not tampered with until it arrives at it's destination. The Diamond Grade Certification :

Once in the retail sector a diamond will be cut and can receive a commercial certification. This form of certification would analyse the specific grades and attributes of a single diamond. When a diamond is graded by bodies such as the Gemological Institute of America, Gemological Association of Great Britain, International Gemological Institute and / or other authoritative partners and members in the professional field of Gemology and Precious Stones around the world, a certification is supplied.
